Jose Fuentes is a Partner at LSN Partners, LLC. Jose is a seasoned public affairs and crisis communications expert with decades of experience. He has served in key federal affairs positions, led complex government relations divisions and has advocated for clients both at the state and federal levels.
Within his role at LSN, Jose focuses on Federal Affairs Policy, Legislation, procurement, and how they impact the clients in multiple areas such as but not limited to, agriculture, defense, education, infrastructure, transportation, healthcare, and technology. He also tracks and provides awareness on legislation, regulations, and executive orders at the State and Federal level. Finally, Jose provides insight and an ’insider’s perspective’ on the National Elections in LSN’s Monday Snapshot, which is sent to LSN clients every week.
Jose began his career in the U.S. House of Representatives, House Foreign Affairs Committee, Subcommittee on International Economic Policy and Trade where he helped shape key legislative priorities such as NAFTA, Chile Free Trade Agreement and Encryption. Following the 2000 election, he was part of the Department of Defense Transition Team where he assisted Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and his senior advisors in the vetting and processing of critical positions throughout the Pentagon. As White House Deputy Director for Advance to Vice President Dick Cheney, Jose ran all internal operations for the office and liaised with key governmental bodies regarding protocols, security, messaging, and policy. Following his service at the White House, he became the Communications Director for the U.S. State Department, U.S. Agency on International Development (USAID). As the agency’s chief spokesperson, he counseled the USAID Administrator and senior leadership on messaging, crisis communications and policy on matters such as Iraq and Afghanistan Reconstruction, the crisis in Darfur and various natural disasters. During his tenure, he implemented key messaging and policy strategies to further promote U.S. interests in international media markets.
Following his government service, José became the Senior Director of External and Public Affairs for TracFone Wireless, Inc., a telecommunications service provider in the United States. In this position, José initiated several strategic programs and managed significant public policy positions before Congress, the FCC and state legislatures. José has counseled numerous clients at the federal level in the environmental, media, national security, tobacco, and transportation sectors.
José has appeared in such media outlets as CNN, Politico, The New York Times, and Bloomberg. He is a member of the Hispanic Lobbyist Association and Board Member of iAM ABLE Fitness, which provides survivors of spinal cord injury and paralysis with various wellness programs.
Jose holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology from the University of Miami, and resides in Miami with his wife, 3 boys and their dog Oreo.
